Keith Urban’s lightning tour of the East Coast festivals

Norwest provided a complete control and IEM package for this tour consisting of a Digico D5 112/EX at front of house, a Yamaha PM1D on monitors with a large quantity of Sennheiser IEMs and Shure UR radio microphones and guitar packs.

The tour started with the three annual East Coast Blues Festivals after which Norwest added an Adamson Y18/Y10 speaker system for sold out dates in Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, Wollongong Entertainment Centre and a huge corporate show in the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.

Long time Norwest stalwart Steve Law who left us to live in Franklin TN in 1999 (and has been doing front of house for Keith almost ever since) was not on this tour. His wife, Leah, gave birth to baby daughter Gabriella Joan right at the end of these tour dates and Steve was on hand in Tennessee where he was needed most. Front of house duties were ably taken care of by Joe Keiser Steve’s system engineer from the Clair Nashville office.
The tour continues a long association between Keith and Norwest starting in 1988 when Keith toured East Coast Australia as support act for Canadian singer Rita MacNeil. The wheel has well and truly turned in the twenty years since then with Keith now being one of the hottest touring acts in North America with 100 crew and 18 trucks on the road playing in 20,000 seaters.

Norwest crew were:
Senior system engineer - Jason Norman
Senior system engineer - Ewan McDonald
Audio engineer - Justin Arthur
