Bicentennial Park Tamworth 2009
For the seventh year in a row Norwest Productions Brisbane successfully supplied sound reinforcement for Bicentennial Park during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Bicentennial Park offers a variety of free concerts to the tens of thousands of festival goers including the Official Opening Concert this year featuring Gina Jeffreys and including speeches from local dignitaries and sponsors. It was also home to a capacity crowd for the Toyota Concert For Rural Australia headlining last years Australian Of The Year, Lee Kernaghan.
This sizeable and relatively difficult venue was this year treated to a visit from our workhorse rig of EAW KF750’s. With 16 x KF750 on top of 8 x KF755 ground stacked on scaffold towers along with 16 x EAW SB1000 subs all running off Lab-Gruppen fp6400 amplification this produced clear, undistorted sound to the rear of the venue some 200m away.
One of the venue’s difficulties was overcome utilizing two strategically placed delay towers to distribute audio around the dense (and badly positioned) foliage and trees. The simple but effective and powerful system was helmed by a Yamaha M7CL console and XTA processing. The monitor system consisted of a Yamaha PM5D Digital Console & Nexo PS15 Wedges.
The success of this event substantiates the fact that it is not necessarily the brand of gear but the people using it that can really make the difference. No one attending this year’s event would be any the wiser that after 6 years there was a complete change in sound system as the system performed beautifully with excellent coverage of the venue. The system was designed and configured slightly differently to ensure the loudspeaker array was tailored to the venue. The knowledge and flexibility of the crew really came to light showing their ability to shape a PA to any venue specific requirements.
