Norwest Brisbane and the Queensland Orchestra
| Early in February, the Queensland Orchestra put on two very special shows back to back at Brisbane Entertainment Centre. As the Orchestra’s preferred supplier, Norwest Productions Brisbane supplied a full L’Acoustics Kudo system for both shows, expertly designed by Ian Shapcott assisted by Will Davy. Monitor engineer Steve May operated a full system of Acoustic Technologies SFM09 and Nexo PS15 wedges. FOH was controlled with a Yamaha PM5D for Ms Flack and an Heritage 3000 for Mr. Carreras. |

The touring sound engineer for Roberta Flack was the legendary Howard Lindeman. A very funny guy with a good set of ears, Howard had some great things to say about the system and he had a great time mixing the show. The show was very dynamic; one moment you could hear a pin drop and the next second it was a rock gig. The L'Acoustics Kudo is a great performer in these circumstances. The Orchestra was sub-mixed on a Heritage 3000 by Shappy. Touring sound engineer for Mr Carreras was local Perth golden ears, James Hewgill. James asked for Kudo and we delivered. His mix of Carreras was transparent and missed none of the detail. A combination of Schoeps condensors and DPA string mics delivered the Orchestra to the Heritage 3000 console and patch duties were handled expertly and efficiently by Matt Whitehead and Sai Raiwalui

The monitor system tech was Mick George and the monitor engineer was Steve May.
Production Manager from the Queensland Orchestra, Darryl Keys, commented – “ It was great. It’s always great when Norwest are here!” |
