Trance Energy ventures down under for the Easter Long Weekend

ID&T’s mighty brand Trance Energy finally hit our shores this Easter Long Weekend. This Dutch trance event has been held since 1999 in the Netherlands, and has become one of the main “Trance Only” festivals in the world.
As usual they didn’t disappoint, bringing with them an International DJ line up that is always a who’s who of the Trance Scene, as a result Trance Energy was “the place to be” for both DJ’s and Trance Junkies alike. The line-up included famed trance DJ Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, Johan Gielen, John O’Callaghan, Rank 1 and many more.

Audio production for the events in Melbourne and Sydney was provided by Norwest. The largest venue was Australia's Trance captial, Melbourne - with all five stages operating from midday to midnight. Melbourne's infamous Calder Park Speedway was the venue of choice with 'zero sound restrictions' and most importantly the epic size and facilities to cater for ID&T's now legendary production spectacles.

Trance Energy 2009The main stage PA was 8 x Adamson Y-18 with 4 x Adamson Y-10's flown and 6 x T21 subs per side. This was powered by Lab Gruppen fp6400 amplifiers with XTA 428 & Dolby Lake Processors. Funktion One Res 2’s stacked on Funktion One Res18’s were used for DJ monitors.

Stage two's PA was 9 x L-Acoustics KUDO per side plus 6 x SB218's. This was powered by Lab Gruppen fp10000q & fp6400 amplifiers with Dolby Lake Processing. Monitors for the DJ was also Funktion One Res 2's. The remaining stages in Melbourne all had EAW KF850 rigs. All stages were serviced by Yamaha O1V mixing consoles and Shure U Series Radio microphones.

Although the 'zero sound restrictions' made the venue the ideal choice - strict sound guidelines still had to be followed to ensure the event was not shut down by the police. The Adamson rig used on the main stage exceeded quality and performance expectations and covered a large outdoor area seamlessly.

trance 2009In Sydney the Hordern Pavillion was the venue of choice. The PA consisted of 16 x Adamson Y-18's, 18 x Adamson Y-10's and 16 x T-21's in two stacks of eight. EAW KF730's and SB730's were used for DJ monitors.

As the Hordern Pavillion has rather low ceilings it puts constraints on any large scale production which you may not see in other venues. The crew did a fantastic job! The real test however was of the party goers patience. They were kept in suspense, with the full extent of lights, lasers & production only being revealed well after 2am!
